Good news for dairy farmers
The long awaited dairy import restrictions have eventually been published in the Government Gazette of September 16, 2013 en starts on October 16. This means that only 500 000l milk (includes UHT milk and cream) and 200 000l other dairy products such as Yoghurt, butter-, thick- and fermented milk may be imported through a permit system. This has eventually been achieved after long drawn negotiations between the Namibian dairy industry and the Government to serve as antipode for imported cheap and subsidised dairy products.
