Another farm attack emphasizes farm safety
The latest farm attack on MrKratzer of Farm Hazeldene on Tuesday night (March 27) near Otjiwarongo again emphasizes the importance of safety on farms. According to Mr Kurt Kretzschmar, the NAU representative of the region, the good cooperation between the Police, the adjoining Farmers Associations and the neighbourhood watch of Otjiwarongo as well as private persons led to the arrest of 2 of the 3 alleged robbers on Thursday morning. MrKratzer’s condition is stable and he is back on the farm.
According to NAU statistics this is the 50th farm attack from 2000 – 2012. In these 50 attacks 24 people lost their lives. For the period 1991 – 2000 14 farmers died in farm attacks.
These statistics are disturbing and again emphasize that remote farms are soft targets for robbers. The NAU urgently requests its members and the farming community in general to be aware of farm safety at all times and to do everything in their power to protect their lives as well as their worker’s lives and their property. Safety tips for farmers are available at the NAU office.
NAU acknowledges sponsors
As part of the acknowledgement the NAU gives to its sponsors, the sponsors get the opportunity to introduce their products in the newsletter from time to time. The following article was received by Corporate Guarantee of the Nictus Group as sponsor of the NAU Congress.
MANAGE YOUR OWN RISK EFFECTIVELY WITH CORPORATE GUARANTEE
Corporate Guarantee is part of the Nictus Group of Companies who do business in Namibia for the past 66 years. We are proud of our origin and the relationship with our clients in Namibia, especially the farming communities who form a large part of our client base. “A unique approach to short term insurance” is a summary of which we strive to and which we offer our clients. Corporate Guarantee is a short term insurance company with a difference. We do not offer the normal conventional short term insurance, but offer our clients a unique opportunity to play an active role in their own risk management.
This is reached by helping the client to build his/her own self insurance fund within the regulations as stipulated in the Short-term Insurance Act 4 of 1998. The policy holder thus builds his own insurance fund through monthly, quarterly or annual contributions. These payments are also 100% deductible from tax. Corporate Guarantee thus gives the policy holder peace of mind that his premiums are only covering his own risk and are not used for claims of other policy holders. In time the client is refunded for good risk management through a non-claim bonus and can the fund of the client grow which makes it possible for the client to carry a bigger part of his/her risk self, according to the client’s risk appetite. Furthermore Corporate Guarantee gives an additional 20% cover on all Policies.
What does that mean for you, the farmer?
Corporate Guarantee is registered for all 31 categories of short term insurance as stipulated in the Act with additional benefits which are not available at conventional insurance. You as farmer can thus enjoy cover for any happenings inclusive:
· Stock theft
· Animal sicknesses
· Fire
· Drought
· Floods
· Rain and hail damage
The policy holder decides himself for which happenings he will claim – you thus stay in control of your money and manage your own risk. If a claim is submitted there is no need for any assessors or quotations. As soon as the claim and necessary documents are received from the policy holder, the claim will be paid within 24 hours.
Should the policy holder retire, the policy can serve as an income protection policy which can then pay out monthly like a pension fund. The policy can also be left to a beneficiary. At the death of the policy holder the funds in the policy will become a sort of capital and will then be paid directly to a beneficiary.
