"Bull Scheme" Selection Erongo region: Omaruru 9 October 2012

The "Bull Scheme" Selection Committee for Erongo region met at the Omaruru Central Hotel on the  9th of October 2012. Not all members/stakeholders attended the meeting.

The selection of applications received from the 7 Agriculture Development Centers in Erongo region (Omaruru, Omatjette, Okombahe, Uis, Spitzkoppe, Utuseb and Otjimbingwe) for the Animal Improvement Scheme (Bull Scheme) that was launched during July took place. The final verification of the selected beneficiaries will be concluded before the end of October.  

The selection committee was composed as follow:

  •  Chairperson : Mr. R.D. Burger, Chief Agriculture Extension Officer, Directorate of Extension and Engineering Services, Erongo Region (MAWF). Mr. G. Keib (Chief Technician) also assisted.
  • Erongo Regional Farmers Union (ERFU) Chairperson: Mr M. Uirab (not present with apology)
  • Erongo Regional Council Representative: Rural Development (not present)
  •  Directorate of Research and Training (DART) representative: Mr. Suibeb (MAWF)

A total of 5 bulls (2 Sanga, 2 Bonsmara and one Simmentaler), 4 Damara Sheep rams and 2 Indigenous goat rams will eventually be handed over to selected communal farmers in Erongo region.
